The frequencies of the new NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti were revealed: its performance will be similar to a Titan-X

Yesterday we presented you the first images of the NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti, but today there have been more leaks, since from Hardware Battle there appeared a GPU-Z capture to show us more about this new model.

In the GPU-Z capture we can see a GPU at 1,000 MHz, the GPU Boost to 1,076 MHz and a memory frequency of 1,753 MHz (7,012 MHz effective in GDDR5), the data bus of 384-bit is confirmed, the 2816 CUDA Cores and 6GB of memory.


All this will make the performance of the GTX 980 Ti to be very close to what is the current GTX Titan-X, but at a much lower price, as it’s estimated that its price will be at least 30% less than the value of a GTX Titan-X.

Besides this, NVIDIA already approved the development of custom models made by the assemblers, so surely we will see models from Asus, MSI, EVGA, Zotac, among others, including the design of their own models and factory overclocked versions.

GeForce GTX 980 Ti, information on the frequencies and scores at 3DMark.

The new Nvidia graphics card GTX 980 Ti is about to be released and some details have leaked in the past few days. According to a screenshot by GPU-Z and published on, it’s confirmed that they use a GPU GM200 with 2816 active CUDA cores and 6 GB of memory GDDR5.The bus remains 384 bit.

The card features a 1000 MHz frequency as a base and 1076 MHz GPU Boost modality like its sister model, the GTX Titan X, but the benefits of this new card is that partners will be able to personalize it: besides different heatsinks, we’ll see cards with much higher frequencies than what we normally do.

Memory will have the same frequency of the GTX Titan X, at a 7 GHz. At the moment, the only data we’re missing is the number of ROPs, but it should be around 96 like in the flagship model. HardwareBattle published the results of two tests at 3DMark; 14,071 points in Fire Strike and 29,444 points in Cloud Gate.

The price could be around 700 and 900 dollars. However these are only rumors. Nvidia doesn’t seem to be prone to releasing an aggressive price, at least at the beginning. Concerning the release date, it’s only a matter of days, but at the moment there is no NDA thanks to the publications and reviews.

A look at Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, GTX 950M and 940m

In the most recent graphics drivers for notebook Nvidia GeForce graphics cards, there was found some information for these three graphics products that have not been officially announced so far, as we talk about the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M and Nvidia GeForce 940m.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M (N16P-GX)

While its desktop variant (GTX 960) will arrive next Thursday, it’s the first time we heard something official about this model. Judging by the ID number we could be in front of a GPU based on GM107 silicon that could be formed of 640 CUDA Cores, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M (N16P-GT)

The GeForce GTX 950M would use the same GM107 GPU but would consist of 512 CUDA Cores, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs on lower frequencies, as obviously this model will be the most popular of all for being present in notebooks at a very attractive price .

Nvidia GeForce 940m (N16S-GT-S)

The GeForce 940m is not even a part of the GTX series, even of the GT, so we could be in front of GM108 silicon formed with 384 CUDA Cores, 16 TMUs and 8 ROPs, perfect for multimedia environment and less demanding games.

The details of the new GTX 960M have been leaked out

Videocardz alleges that they got the presumed leaked specifications and release date of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 graphics cards. According to the data they provide, this card would have a GM206 chip manufactured at 28 nanometers with 1024 CUDA Maxwell Cores.

Its operating speed of 1,127 MHz would be the base and it would reach 1,178 MHz with Boost. Apparently it will arrive with only 2 GB of GDDR5 memory at a 7,010 MHz speed and a 128 bits data bus, rather small, giving it a bandwidth of 112 GB/s.

GTX 960M

Its TDP would be of 120W so it would require a 6-pin connector to run it. Video outputs will be two dual-link DVI, two HDMI 2.0 and a DisplayPort.

As they commented in Videocardz, the GTX 960M will arrive on January 22, for a price that is yet to be determined.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M vs 880M comparison, what’s the difference?

They beat the world record of 3D Mark with 4 GeForce GTX 980

The large capacity of these cards overclock, accompanied by the powerful Intel Core i7 – 5960 X and its 8-core enabled get the highest score to date in the FireStrike test.

39.862, those are the points that have gotten members (Smoke & 12) team OCLab in the latest 3DMark test FireStrike. This score places them as world leaders in the ranking of this famous benchmark.

To achieve this, have used a processor Intel Core i7 – 5960 X with its 8 cores and 16 threads accompanied by nothing more and nothing less that 4 980 GeForce GTX running in QUAD-SLI, all of them with a few frequencies of 1749 MHz for the GPU and 8.392 MHz for a memoir, an overclock than significant, taking into account that the frequencies of series are 1,216 MHz and 7,000 MHz respectively.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 980: Complete Specifications

The guys from Videocardz bring us the exclusive final specification of the GeForce GTX 980 from Nvidia. It’s based on 2nd generation architecture from Maxwell with a GMU204 GPU. Actually, the GM204-400 GPU comprised with 16 Streaming Multiprocessors Maxwell (SMM), 128 Texture Mapping Units (TMUs) and 64 Raster Operating Units (ROPs). Yes, more than are offered on the high-quality GPU (GK 110).

Yes it counts on less TMUs, so it is expected that higher frequencies will help to achieve an increase in the fill of the textures (Texture Fill rate). The rest of the features that concern the silicon are complete with 5,200 million transistors, 2 MB of L2 cache and the die size of 398 mm2.

Nvidia complete its basic line with the new GeForce GT 720

The new Nvidia GT 720 arrives to complete the Nvidia Catalog in its most basic range. Indeed we can consider it as one of the most basic graphics card made by the company. It is based on the Kepler architecture and comes in two versions: One with 1GB of memory DDR3 at 1.800 MHZ and another with 2 GB GDDR5 at 5.000 MHZ. They replace the GT 620 with higher performance and 40% less energy consumption.

With its low power use it makes it unnecessary to use a fan to function. Although, we have seen some personalized models with integrated fans.

GeForce GT 720

Manufacturers like ASUS, EVGA. MSI, Gainward, Palit or Zotac have hurried to launch their own versions of these cards with diverse formats and cooling systems. Although, in reality this graphics card is destined for more modest equipment, that for some reason may require a more powerful graphics card than a GPU integrated into the processor or a low quality IGPU, because nowadays we can find a more powerful integrated solution than this GT 720.
