One of the pillars of high-end portable computers is, without a doubt, Shuttle’s “cube” concept, one of the most powerful options out there.
Now, in its sixth revision, it’s being updated with a classic case and a H87 chipset from Intel, giving birth to the new SH87R6, a cube with Shuttle’s proprietary format which offers the user a more powerful configuration, with several noticeable differences, like the double PCI Express slot for upgrading, or the four memory slots to have up to 32GB in RAM in this architecture.
The new Shuttle SH87R6 features a 1150 socket for fourth-generation Haswell Core processors, four SATA 6gbps ports with RAID modes, mSATA 6gbps connector, MiniPCIe connector, PCI Express 3.0 PEG for big graphics cards and one additional PCI Express 1x port.
The barebone adds two Ethernet cards, wireless compatibility, several USB 3.0, eSATA, dual-link DVI and HDMI 1.4a ports. It will be available in Spain in September, -although nothing has been said about its price-, and we will have a full review ready by then.
