The Mac mini 2014 should be the next product line to be updated by Apple, as well as the new mobility devices leaded by iPhone 6.
Apple’s mini PC hasn’t been updated since October 2012 and it is a shame because it is the cheapest personal computer that Apple offers, and, besides the AIO iMac, the only desktop machine for the consumption of Apple fans.
In June, Appple lowered its price, which fed the rumors of a new model. Now, a list that has been leaked by the guys of the BootCamp Support allows us to be certain that we will have a new mini computer this year.
How will the Mac mini 2014 be?
The update to Intel’s Haswell processors is certain, unless Apple delays its arrival even more and uses the Broadwell ones. It doesn’t seem to be this way according to the information we have today. Apple will offer different power variance with the Haswell processor, arriving to a Core i7-4770R for the top model, with 4 cores and 8 strands of native processing with operating frequencies of up to 3.9 GHz, 6 MB of cache, support for 32 GB of DDR3-1600 memory and the integrated Intel HD Iris Pro 5200 graphic card.
Another one of the outstanding components of the Mac mini 2014 will be the support for WiFi 802.11ac, the new wireless standard with the theoretical maximum of 1.3 GB per second and that aside from speed it also offers wider coverage and better stability.
It will have a new ultrathin aluminum chassis and HDMI and USB 3.0 connections as well as SDXC and FireWire memory cards. It will also have Thunderbolt although we don’t know if it will be updated to the last version of Intel’s connector.
OS Mavericks and free Yosemite update will complete this Mac mini 2014. The price range won’t change from the actual ones, a repeated Apple strategy that we have seen recently in the update of the MacBook Pro Retina.
