Now, $800 laptops are able to meet most of our gaming needs. In recent years, hardware prices have dropped sharply. Most $800 laptops have a very good configuration, such as the Y50. For just a little more than $800, you’ll get the latest generation of 860M graphics card, which has a very good performance. Below, I list some best gaming laptops under $800 in 2015 which currently have the best configurations for gaming in addition to several positive reviews.
1, Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK (Most recommended!!! High Cost Performance)
Thin and powerful, the Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK may not have the highest gaming performance on the market such as those with Nvidia 980M and 970M graphic cards or the Intel quad-core I7 CPU, but this lightweight machine packs a punch and can run the latest games or software, albeit you may need to dial down the graphic settings in some heavy games to make sure you have the best performance.
This latest gaming laptop from Dell is a great choice, especially when you consider the affordable price of $800. It may have some added weight in comparison with some of the common laptops, but this is largely due to the fact that it boasts an dedicated video card, a long lasting battery and a dual fan system which is always essential for gaming laptops. While it is admittedly made of plastic and not bulletproof, it is certainly a durable laptop which is fit for purpose.
With a 6th generation Intel Core processor (i5 6300HQ), this Windows 10 based gaming laptop is a quad core processor with a 6MB cache and an efficient frequency of 3.2GHZ. Another highlight is found in it having a decent video card, the GeFocce GTX 960M (4GB GDDR5), which can handle most games at the High even highest specifications including Call of Duty, FIFA or Far Cry. All considered, this should be an ideal gaming laptop for a few years and will comfortably allow games to run smoothly at 1080p with frame rates exceeding 30 per second.
Unfortunately, the Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK has a single RAM of 8GB and we say unfortunately, because Dell have left the remaining slot for RAM empty rather than bumping it up to 16GB. That being said, the laptop is extremely fast to boot which is largely attributed to the 256GB SSD, although this size also means that it only takes a few game installs to max out the card. In this regard, it might be buying an external hard drive or SSD to make it run more smoothly.
We mentioned above how the laptop also has a long lasting battery life and the 74 WHR battery is certainly one of the most impressive you will find. Lasting for more than 10 hours at a time, Dell have vastly increased the appeal of this gaming laptop but naturally this time frame will be reduced whilst running games with increased load times for graphics or using the machine with optimal screen brightness.
Morale of the story: The Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK is a great value gaming laptop, it comes at an affordable price and is well able to handle most of the latest games on the market. An external hard drive for the machine would be a good idea and possibly an extra 8GB stick for the idle RAM slot, but overall this is a reliable gaming laptop which performs exactly how you might expect.
1, ASUS K501UX
ASUS K501UX has just come on the market and has already proved itself popular with the computer buying public. The Intel Core i7-6500U processor is powerful enough to handle large software programs and most current games. The dual-core design features speeds of 2.5GHz during normal operation with a 3.1GHz turbo. This means owners of the earlier i7-5500U will enjoy a 10% boost in speed. People who are trying to decide between this model and the 2015 i5-5200U should know this one is about 18% faster.
Casual gamers will appreciate the GeForce GTX 950M (2GB GDDR3), which outperforms on-board chips when it comes to high-quality graphics and high fps. No one would label the GTX950M as a dedicated gaming processor, but it holds its own for most of the newer games. You might have to tweak the graphic’s setting down from full max for the smoothest play. Far Cry 4 and GTA 5 at 1920 x 1080 would run at about 30fps on high, while you’d get only 20fps on The Witcher 3 at the same settings.
The TN monitor panel supports 1920×1080 resolution. The monitor itself is a standard 15.6 inches, which gives sufficient range for gaming and other activities. Quick boot is a benefit of the ASUS K501LX-EB71. You’ll get startup in 10 seconds or less with the 256GB SSD. That means you can get into your favorite games faster than ever before.
If these stats sound like enough machine for your needs, and your budget is rather small, this less expensive ASUS may be the right choice for you.
2. Lenovo Y50 (Price above 800 dollars)
The Lenovo y50 is the second laptop that I recommend. Strictly speaking, the Lenovo Y50 is not a laptop under 800$, however, due to its excellent configuration, I had to recommend it. I believe that you will like it! In terms of specs, you will not find the second laptop features GTX 960M graphics card with 2GB VRAM around 900 dollars. It also features Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB 5400 rpm hard disk + 8GB SSD as a cache drive. Please note, the SSD cannot be used to store data, as a high speed cache space is to improve the performance of the laptop. Meanwhile, the Y50 has characteristics that its competitors do not have – good build quality, JBL Speakers and good looks.
The only thing that I dislike is its screen. Yes, it’s 1080P screen, but it appears to fall behind its competition in terms of viewing angles and color. As I noted earlier, no laptop is perfect and this includes cheap gaming laptops. You’ll have to choose a laptop that best meets your needs, is in line with your budget, and accept its shortcomings.
Or, you can choose the Lenovo Y50 UHD version. It’s screen is perfect, but this comes with an increased price (Details on Amazon). There is however a less expensive option– you can replace the display yourself (There are some good 1080P IPS display sales on Amazon. Their price is around $800).
3, MSI GP62 Leopard Pro-002
MSI is known for its high-end gaming laptops, and it didn’t give up the Mid-market. The MSI GP62 is an affordable gaming laptop that you will like.
MSI GP62 is equipped with the latest generation of NVIDIA graphics cards GTX 950M, according to the test of GTX950M’s performance is higher than GTX 850M of around 12%, but still amounted to less than the performance of gtx 860m, Intel Core i7-5700HQ plus 8GB Ram, it’s smooth enough for us to handle large-scale applications and multi-tasking.
4, MSI GL72 6QD-001 (17.3 inch, price above 800 dollars)
Gamers without the budget for one of the top of the line machines, and who like the convenience of portability, will love the MSI GL72 6QD-001 notebook. The 8GB of RAM provides sufficient speed and for most modern games. When you take a break from gaming to get some work done, the Intel Core i5-6300HQ quad-core processor provides the capability for smooth workflow.
With hyper threading and turbo boost option, the Intel i5-6300HQ quad core provides 2.3 – 3.2 GHz of power to handle most current computer games, graphics and video production software, multi-media entertainment and more. Even when you minimize your work with a game running and switch back and forth, you should get no lag or interruptions.
While the MSI GL72 allows smooth game play, the NVIDIA GeForce 950M 2GB GDDR3 may not be powerful enough to play at Ultra or High graphic quality. Games that have been around a while and have less complex graphics, such as Sims 4 and World of Warcraft, can be enjoyed at the highest settings. More graphic-intense selections like GTA V would only get around 27fps high settings. Smoother gameplay – around 50fps – would work with medium to high graphic details only.
The screen on the MSI GL72 6QD-001 is a large 17.3 inches. With the full HD resolution, the combination helps gamers reach more intense immersion in their favorite games.
No matter how many games you enjoy, the 1TB hard drive gives plenty of room to store them all. At 7200RPM, this model is faster than older ones that operated at 5400RPM only. If you want even more performance, an mSATA slot is waiting for you to install the solid-state drive of your choice.

Each laptop has its unique advantages– CPU, graphics card, hard disk or price. An appropriate notebook is one that will meet your current needs or future gaming needs.
If a specific configuration meets your demands however, rather than pursue a higher configuration, a better option may be to invest in an SSD — it will be a fantastic experience!
