Divided in three models, 14, 17.3 and 18.4 inches each, Alienware’s new laptops feature the new 4th generation Intel Core processors and Geforce GT y GTX 700M graphics cards, which make them bigger and heavier, and therefore not the best choice for those who want sleek, light models (not the objective of these laptops, anyway).
The Alienware 18 has a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 18-4-inch screen and an Intel Core Haswell i7 processor, with two Nvidia GTX 750M graphics cards. Its highest configuration: An Intel Core i7 4930MX chip at more than 4 GHz, 32 GB DDR RAM, two GTX780M and one 1.5 TB HDD. Obviously, this one is the most expensive.
Getting a little lower, we have the Alienware 17, which has a 17.3-inch screen with a surprisingly small 1600 x 900 resolution (can be upgraded with a 1080p panel). The base GPU is a GTX 765M, which can be upgraded to a GTX 780M. The CPU and RAM remain the same as the previous model’s, both in the most basic and the most advanced configuration (i7 4930 MX, 32 GB RAM, 1.5 TB HDD.)
Then we have the smaller Alienware 14, a 14-inch model with a 1366 x 76 resolution, which can also be upgraded with a 1080p panel. The most basic model features the GeForce GT 750M, an Intel Core i7-4700MQ processor and 8 GB of RAM. Every component can be upgraded up to 16 GB of RAM, a 7-4930MX processor and a GT 756M GPU. However, the most expensive SDD available for this model is a 512 GB one.
These laptops will not be cheap, like any Alienware model, as they are known for their high-end gaming products. However, nowadays you can find a lot more options if you’re into gaming which can be much more affordable.
The Alienware 14’s most basic model will be 1200 USD, the Alienware 17 will be 1500 USD, and the Alienware 18 will be 2100 USD. Higher and upgraded models can reach prices of 5200 USD or more, and a weight of 5.4 kilograms.
